Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the potential pitfalls in signing an Assignment of Benefits (AOB)?

Answer: You have committed to this contractor, and you have little to no recourse if you’re not satisfied with their work.

You can no longer comparison shop if you are not satisfied with their work.

Even if they walk off the job with their work incomplete, they can still claim compensation from the insurance company which gets deducted from your benefits.

Both you, and the contractor, are still bound by the terms and conditions of the policy, and if the contractor violates those terms and conditions, those actions could potentially jeopardize coverage for your entire loss.

  • What are the coverage limits of a standard flood policy?

Answer: The maximum coverage on a standard flood policy is:

Single Family Home Structure - $250,000

Single Family Home Contents - $100,000

    Renter Contents - $100,000

  • What flood zone am I in?

Answer: Below are three major categories of flood zones and your Agent can help you find your specific flood zone.

A Zones are usually located near a river, lake or stream.

V Zones are usually located near the ocean and represents the highest risk.

B, C, X, and A99 Zones are less prone to flooding and you may qualify for a Preferred Risk Policy.

  • If I hear about a flood warning, can I buy a flood policy?

Answer: There is a mandatory 30-day waiting period on new flood policies. So be careful and don’t wait until it is too late! If you are closing on a home loan you may not have to wait.

  • Who do I call if I have general questions about my policy?

Answer: The first person you should contact is GuideWell Insurance Agency. We can help you with any questions you may have!
